As individuals or as a group...

  • On October 20, 2010, join with thousands of students across North America as they skip a meal and give the money they would have spent on food to Compassion International to help feed hungry children around the world.

  • Pray: Between now and October 20, 2010, pray one day a week at lunchtime, asking God to use you and your friends to help end global hunger. Follow us on Facebook and Twitter for weekly prayer requests to guide your prayer time.

  • Gather Pledges: Increase your impact by asking others to support you financially. Remember, every $156 you raise will feed twelve children for more than one month!

  • Recruit Friends: Tell others in your circle of influence why you are participating in One Meal One Day. Invite them to join you on October 20, 2010. Together, you’ll skip a meal and feed hungry children around the world. This can be a great way to share your faith with others!

  • Build Community: Join the OMOD community on Facebook and Twitter to learn more about the global hunger crisis. Raise awareness by asking your family, friends and teachers to do the same.

  • Collect the pledges from those who supported you for One Meal One Day. Give those funds to your group leader to send to Compassion International so hungry children around the world will have food and hope. Remember, $156 feeds twelve children for more than a month!

  • Celebrate! Get together with your One Meal One Day community to share your OMOD experiences and to hear stories from across North America of how God was at work through the OMOD experience. Post your stories on the OMOD Facebook page or the Community page of this website.

  • One Meal One Day doesn’t have to end on October 20, 2010. In fact, we hope this day marks the beginning of a whole new spiritual journey for your students—one in which active compassion and serving others in Jesus’ name becomes a way of life. That’s what happened with Claire and Katie. After experiencing the injustice of hunger, they caught a vision of God’s heart for the poor and started their own campaign to raise funds to feed hungry children. Don’t let your students settle for a one-day event. Give them permission to dream and to believe that they can make a difference every day. Then encourage them to put a plan together and take action. And be sure to tell us what happens next!

Every $156 you raise will feed and care for 12 children for over a month!

If you're not sure how much your group will raise, just include your best guess for now. (Your group can always increase its goal later!) In any case, groups that set goals tend to achieve more - which means even more help for children!
